The exhibition of me and my three roommates (Christine Ostermaier, Marie-Claire Nur, and Katharina Netolitzky) began in this October. The theme of it is accomplices. In this exhibition we show a part of our past, present and future. Our pictures are exhibited there till 14th December. If you live in Augsburg or near from Augsburg, maybe you’d like to see our original pictures. The address of the gallery is:
Galerie Süßkind,
Dominikanergasse 9
86150 Augsburg
It’s opened 10:00 -18:00 from tuesday to friday and 10:00 -16:00 on saturday.
We’ve planned this exhibition for about two months. During this time we made the concept, discussed the ideas with Markus and Sybille from Gallery Süßkind.(They were very nice. They gave us good suggestions, encouraged us to develop our concept as free as we like and found a sponsor for our prints(flyers and posters), who provided us cool materials to print. Most of the pictures were personal projects, which we drew in our spare time. And we also did some especially for the exhibition. The two months were very valuable for us and we had a lot of fun. We were sometimes very excited, sometimes a little bit frustrated, sometimes contended, sometimes doubtful. Quite at the end of the preparation we have even asked ourselves if we really can bring this exhibition to the world, because there were still some unsure stuffs undone and we didn’t know if we can finish them in time. But finally we made it and we are not exhibition-virgins any more, yay! And what I want to say about this whole thing is: I’m very happy that I have the best roommates in the world!
The Vernissage was GREAT and successful. A lot of people came and the gallery was quite full. Our Professor Mr. Loos has made a wonderful opening speech for us. And we had the band Hey, Invisible Man there for a guest music show. We’ve received a lot of positive feedbacks, also advices and critics. It was really really a fantastic evening!
And…after the night, I’ve been in the doldrums for quite a long time. I think you all understand that: you fight for an aim for a long time, you do anything you can to make it as perfect as it can be. The happiest moment is very moment before the final success. Then, you’ll have a white new paper, on which you must draw new things with new ideas. What I thought before it was “Oh my god, we’re going to have our first exhibition, it will start our fantastic great career!”, and now what I think the whole time is “Ah, our exhibition was actually maybe just a little peanut in the whole universe. I still have a long long way to go to get an “apple”. The things I’ve done before are now for me boring. I have to try more new stuffs!” So I’ve started new things. Hopefully they will turn out to be good.
Here are some photos for you, who were not able to come to Augsbug.
We call our WG(german item for shared apartment) CMYK-WG. Because the beginning letter of our names are accidentally CMYK, as the basic colors for printing. So we did the portraits with the background color in cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. We drew lots to decide who drawing who. The result was: Kathi drew Tine(Christine), I drew Marie, Marie drew me, Tine drew Kathi (from left to right, and from top to bottom). (The background colors are really CMYK, not as you see in this photo. )
It was really cool that Tine and Kathi drew each other with their comic-style, nevertheless we can still recognize them well. And it made this four portraits together somehow very interesting.
When you enter the Gallery Süßkind, the most eye-catching things(probably) you can see are us.
This is our present-room. What you see here looks almost the same as it was in the kitchen of our apartment. We have moved our couch and kitchen table to this room of the gallery. On the wall are our analog-tweeter. Since November 2009 we’ve started to draw down happiness, sadness, annoyance, dreams, strange thoughts etc. on little notepapers and posted them on the wall in our kitchen, where we always meet each other. It is a wonderful archive and diary of our common life(We live together and also we study together). The wall was already twice full and now it’s a pretty empty field again. The tweets, which we show here are our selected favorite ones out of tweets-library.
The picture on the right is from Tine. The four little pictures in Frames are from my daily drawings.
The orange point by the picture means it was sold:D
My favorites from my everyday drawings. I’ve posted all of them in this blog. But here in the exhibition, you can see the original ones.
In this room we store a little part of our pasts. The huge painting on the right is Marie’s Dreamer.
On the right of this photo is Kathi’s illustrationserie, which were based on her life in Finland as a exchange-student. They were painted on wood. You can see the bigger photos of them here.
My self-portraits in one month. They look really nice in frames on the wall. I arrayed them in chronological order from top right to bottom left.
Tine and I share the other side of this room.
One of the highlight of our exhibition: the matrjoschkas! We drew them especially for this event. We portrayed ourselves on the matrjoschkas, and each serie tells something about us, which you can free interpret. The biggest matrjoschkas are standing now at the window. They are also the motives on our posters.
It’s me.
The other smaller(the second and the third one) me was hidden somewhere in the gallery. Sadly you cannot see the backside of them, der popo, which I’m very proud of. (“der popo” is the cute way of saying “bottom” in german, I don’t know how to say it in english, the word I found in internet was “bum”. Is it the right word maybe? )
The forth hides itself behind the chocolates.
The smallest suspends in the air with the other smallest matrjoschkas by CMK.
It’s funny to search for the small matrjoschkas in every possible. But actually, I personally think, it would be better to show a matrjoschka serie in a row, I mean together. Then the concept behind would be better understood. For example, the time cue of my matrjoskas was more or less disturbed.
Marie’s Family.
Tine’s inside creature.
Two of Tine’s Matrjoschkas.
Two of Kathi’s
It’s a cute gallery. Besides the good exhibitions, it provides also gorgeous coffee and beautiful chocolates.
There are also delicious cakes and cookies.
A great place to choose gifts.
CMYK under the tree
A picture, which we drew together. It’s said that, the things have something to do with our future. Hmmm, since it was painted by four people planless, it’s a accidental chaos, you know what I mean *grins*. You have to use your great fantasy to interpret it.
We sells also the pictures as postcards.
And,
That’s all:)

P.S. Here’s a simple video I made. You can see our kitchen and the 1. wall of tweets. In this Vedio we were making the wall empty so that we can continue the posting. (The song is actually what I wrote last year for another project. Since I was to lazy to find a free music…I just used here the one I own).
